Support for Skype to end for Windows Phone users on July 1st

This will probably only be affecting three or four people, but it’s yet another step in the road for the removal of Windows on a phone and Microsoft support for the Windows Phone operating system or MS-provided apps.

Thurrott is reporting on this Skype support page which details that the company is about to move away from legacy apps.

If there’s any of you still using the Windows Phone 8 or Windows 8.1 Skype app, it’ll simply die on July 1st. You’ll instead have to get another phone or use the web version.

Although there’s still a hardcore of Windows Phone and Windows 10 Mobile fans still out there, it’s an ever dwindling group.

Update – Story amended, thanks Steve L 🙂
