Seek announce a new cheap version of their thermal camera

In August last year we took a look at the Seek Thermal camera. It basically slots onto the bottom of your phone and, in real time, shows you what’s hot and what’s not.

Now you can get an affordable model in the shape of the Seek CompactPRO. It’s available for £454 (which is cheap for a thermal imaging camera, believe me) and, just like the one we reviewed, plugs into an iOS or Android smartphone to deliver a 320×240 thermal image of your surroundings. As we showed you in the review, it’s a really useful gadget with a great accompanying app which lets you see hot and cold spots from -40C to 330C with a stack of sensitivity levels.

There’s a range of options and settings within the app (which runs alongside the plug-in gadget), including the ability to overlay or split the thermal image with the “real world” view. There’s also 4:3 or 16:9 formats, spot temperature, high / low temperature, above threshold, below threshold and more.
