HTC have this morning announced the much leaked One M9+. It’s to be sold in China, with no mention of other markets. Shame.

The various leaks have all been spot on, including the peculiar fingerprint scanner beneath the display.

Spec wise it’s a bit different to the One M9:

– 5.2” 2K display.
– MediaTek Helio X10 MT6795T Octo core processor 2.2GHz, 64 bit.
– 3GB of RAM.
– 20-megapixel Duo Camera.
– 2,840 mAh integrated battery.

After the spec it’s the same old Sense 7 on top of Lollipop we’ve seen on the One M9. Which leaves me wondering why this device exists. In my opinion a slightly better Processor, a duo camera and a fingerprint sensor don’t really warrant what HTC probably spent on this device in R&D. But hey who am I to question them.

As regards global availability HTC have said the following :

Availability

We are excited to bring the HTC One M9+ to customers in China, where we have worked closely with mobile operators to create a phone with the right balance of screen size, processor performance, software, and radio network compatibility to meet consumers’ needs.

The HTC One M9+ is currently available in China only and will be ranged in other markets, to be confirmed locally at a later date. Please follow your local country pages for availability information.

The One M9+ is not currently planned to be released in North America or Europe, where we believe our flagship, HTC One M9, is the best choice for blazing fast performance, incredible sound, and network compatibility across the broadest range of operators.
