MWC YotaPhone 2 becomes available in the USA
It’s via Indiegogo and not a network, but you can get your name down to have the two-faced smartphone in the summer. There’ll be “exclusive pricing” for “early adopters” (even though the phone is already built and selling elsewhere) and the campaign will begin in April. So, this is basically a notification stating that you can head to the YotaPhone website to sign up for another notification, which will then inform you via email that the Indiegogo campaign is starting, then you head to that website and at some point you’ll get your phone.

Vlad Martynov, CEO of Yota, tells us that this setup will

Open up an innovative market method and an alternative channel for promotion of YotaPhone, along with distribution through conventional chains like communication operators and retail chains.

We are a startup company, and while entering a highly competitive market like the North and the Latin Americas, we find it most important to ensure a fastest return on investments in YotaPhone production. In the new region, the smart phone will therefore be sold subject to preorders as this will help ensure that the volume of supply perfectly meets the regional demand, thus avoiding any additional costs for logistics and storage of products in the US-based warehouses.

So if you want one, don’t be heading down to your local Verizon or AT&T store. The first place you need to go is to our full YotaPhone 2 review, then Indiegogo.

Exclusive pricing for early bird orders. We will inform you when the product is in stock.

Moscow, March 4, 2015 – Yota is pleased to announce that beginning in April, the YOTAPHONE2 will be available to consumers in North America thanks to a partnership with Indiegogo. This will include special pricing & bundles for a limited time for those who sign up early– please visit yotaphone.com/indiegogo for more information, and to sign up.

The 1st generation YotaPhone, the world’s first dual screen smartphone, offering a high-resolution LCD screen on the front and an always on, E-Ink screen on the back, was introduced to the world in December 2013. After numerous awards and industry excitement the YOTAPHONE2 was introduced in December 2014 and is thoroughly redesigned, featuring new, modern styling, upgraded software and larger, higher resolution displays on both front and back. Like its predecessor it was also decorated with multiple awards including the recent “Envisioneering’s Innovation & Design Award” at ShowStoppers and “Top Picks” from Android Authority and GeekBeatTV at CES 2015. The tech industry press also give YOTAPHONE2 top grades across the board and Forbes went so far as to call it the “Most Disruptive Smartphone of 2014.”

YOTAPHONE2 is currently available in 20 markets across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia is growing. Traditional smartphone users love the choice between the high-definition 1080p AMOLED screen and the fully touch-enabled always-on electronic paper display (EPD) in one device. Renowned carriers such as Vodafone, Hutchison and Congstar recently included YOTAPHONE2 in their portfolio in selected markets. Now, after over a year of waiting, North America will get their turn.

“Cooperation with Indiegogo opens up an innovative market method and an alternative channel for promotion of YotaPhone, along with distribution through conventional chains like communication operators and retail chains”, said Vlad Martynov, CEO of Yota company. “We are a startup company, and while entering a highly competitive market like the North and the Latin Americas, we find it most important to ensure a fastest return on investments in YotaPhone production. In the new region, the smart phone will therefore be sold subject to preorders as this will help ensure that the volume of supply perfectly meets the regional demand, thus avoiding any additional costs for logistics and storage of products in the US-based warehouses. “

Indiegogo is becoming the latest channel for product placement and customer engagement, giving brands a powerful and unique ability to engage their fan base in a way that is far more meaningful than any form of traditional marketing. Companies like Jolla, Ubuntu (Cannonical), Philips, Honda, Sony and others have worked with Indiegogo to leverage their own success to bring funds to non-profit organizations, innovators and more.
