Remember Google Reader? Well that was replaced in 2011 with the Google Currents app. Now there is currently a update being pushed out to the Currents app.
What hat does this update bring to the table I hear you ask?
This magical update basically wipes the Google Currents app from your device leaving you with the only option but to install the Google Play Newsstand App.
All your Currents subscriptions are transferred over, and the Currents app is removed from your application drawer.
This seems to be in keeping with the Google philosophy of stopping services whether they’re used or not, and then moving the features to another app.
