Nokia announce the Lumia 928 a few days earlier than expected

For the last few weeks we’ve been dealt a confusing array of leaks and rumours surrounding the next Nokia Lumia device. This afternoon Nokia have published details of what they’re releasing in the US which might just give a huge insight into next weeks event.
Nokia announce the Lumia 928 a few days earlier than expected
They have announced the Lumia 928 which is basically a Lumia 920 with a slightly improved camera and some more Nokia software. Available in only black and white exclusively on Verizon.

Spec wise again it’s not exactly new and exciting.

So the rumours of a Xenon flash were true and the rumours about reduced storage weren’t true. If this is, what is to be unveiled next week then I think Nokia may struggle until their next flagship comes out. It basically has an improved camera and flash and that’s it really.

As regards availability it’s all irrelevant as it’s for the US, but here’s what they say.

Availability
The Nokia Lumia 928 is available for purchase in white or black at Verizon Wireless stores and online beginning Thursday, May 16 for USD99 after a USD50 mail-in rebate, with a new two-year customer agreement. For a limited time, get a USD25 credit for Windows Phone apps and games with the purchase of a Nokia Lumia 928.

So it seems that the Lumia 928 might be available sooner rather than later which is a good thing. Unlike last year and the several month delay.

We shall see first hand though as we are due to be at the event in London. In the meantime check out this hands on video below that Nokia have posted.

What the "New Nexus 7" might be like
  • I don’t think they’ll struggle with this as a flagship – there does seem to be massive demand for a Xenon flash camera phone, so coupled with the existing 920 camera, I think they’ve got a winner.

“It basically has an improved camera and flash and that’s it really.”
There are a *lot* of people who have been holding out for just this. Don’t underrate it.
If the camera turns out to be great I’ll be trading my 920 in for sure.

Why would they be announcing a device, exclusive to the US, at an event in London?
That makes no sense at all.
