MWC – NEC Medias W hands on. You want this. You want this now.

MWC NEC Medias W hands on. You want this. You want this now.Remember last year? Remember NEC at Mobile World Congress 2012 ? They were showing off some rather swish handsets, but unfortunately they were all firmly behind glass and sadly not fully functional. The NEC Medias W really interested me however I couldn’t see a great deal of it other than this display unit.

This year the device has come alive. I was almost falling over myself to hand money over and buy it right there. As you can see, it has two screens and allows true multitasking by displaying two different apps on the screens. Typing is a breeze – you just rotate the phone and use the whole lower screen to type on. I was impressed with how thin and lightweight this was, even with both screens flapped together.

When close, the phone acts like any other Android and the rear screen in blacked out. You can also open it in a “A” shape and watch, say, a YouTube video on both screens – ideal for sitting on the train or across the table from someone.

As for specs, we’re talking a dual-core 1.5GHz CPU, 1 GB RAM, 8 megapixel camera and those displays are dual 4.3″ (540×960 each). There’s 16GB storage and you can enhance that further with a microSD card slot.

There’s no plans to hit Europe yet but the NEC rep said that they wanted to. Please NEC, sell this in Europe. I want one! 🙂 Full video and pictures below..
