Nokia announces new Music+ premium streaming service

Nokia announced earlier today that they were rolling out a new extension to their existing Mix Radio service. It’s called Music+ and, for the relatively low price of €3.99 a month it enables unlimited skips and downloads on your Lumia device. The price is the equivalent of £3.40 over here, although we are hearing it’ll be closer to a 1:1 conversion.

Although the price certainly is attractive, I’m not sure how wide the uptake of the service is. I’m not a Windows Phone user, so I couldn’t say how useful the service is – as a lot of my music is locally stored (and legitimately purchased!) I use Google Play Music on the go and Spotify Free at home. I’ve found that personalised radio services like Last.fm are good for discovery, but I wouldn’t rely on it as my main source for music consumption. Are you a Lumia user? Are you going to upgrade?
