£55 Handset designed for the more mature userEvery one of us either has an elderly relative, friend or knows someone of a more mature persuasion.

Whilst many of the elderly are embracing the growing mobile technology, there are those that either can’t or won’t be able to get along with the latest and greatest handsets.

This is where the “My-Phone” comes in.

Made by a company called CyCell and available from Age UK the handset has no fiddly buttons or keyboard, instead it can be pre-programmed with up to eight contact numbers by the manufacturer when ordered.  It also has an answer button and an on/off button….and thats it!

With a cost of £55 with a 30 day rolling plans which start at £7.50 per month for 50 minutes talk time and go up to £15 per month for 500 minutes.  Customers can also purchase a 6 month bundle for £87.50 which will also give you 50 minutes a month.

Helena King, Head of Affinity at Age UK said ‘According to recent research, over two-thirds (68%) of those aged 65 plus use a mobile phone and this drops to just over half (52%) amongst those aged 75 plus, so it’s not surprising that many older people can feel excluded from the benefits this technology has to offer.

‘Age UK has worked with CyCell to provide vital insights into the older market to launch the Age UK My Phone that can be used easily, regardless of technological expertise.’
