Reality check … is this true? Apple are readying a 4″ display on the next iPhone….
Well Reuters (and WSJ) appear to believe this to be true…..
It is being quoted that production of the screens has already begun at LG, Sharp and Japan Display manufacturers…. we could be in for an exciting few weeks with more rumours before the official announcement…. June the 11th couldn’t come fast enough ….
Quoting Reuters:-
“Apple’s decision to equip the next iPhone with a larger screen represents part of its competitive response to Samsung Electronics. Samsung unveiled its top-of-the line Galaxy smartphone with a 4.8-inch touch screen and a faster processor earlier this month.”
and WSJ reports:-
“Production is set to begin next month for the screens, which measure at least 4 inches diagonally compared with 3.5 inches on the iPhone 4S, the latest phone from Apple, the people said.
The move suggests that the Cupertino, Calif.-based company is trying to make its popular smartphone more appealing amid intensifying competition from rival Samsung Electronics Co. of South Korea. Samsung, which became the world’s biggest cell phone maker in the first quarter, recently unveiled its new flagship smartphone with a 4.8-inch display, one of the largest smartphone screens.”
