Apologies, but I have said phone and it’s frankly a bit embarrassed that the flagship Android phone from LG has : A: shipped with 2.2 Froyo and B: has taken this long to be updated to 2.3 Gingerbread..
As I say, the LG Optimus 2X launched with Android 2.2 Froyo, a bit naughty for a top of the range, first dual core phone to the market , but LG promised us it would be out ‘soon’, so we waited……some of us (Me!) got fed up and rooted the thing, putting Cyanogen CM7 on it, and as most of you running CM7 will probably confirm, it runs very nicely.
For those of you that aren’t into hacking/rooting you phone, you’ve had to wait for the official update, now there was a Gingerbread released to developers some time ago, this is what cyanogen have been basing their build on, but it was by all accounts a rather ‘messy’ build (According to Paul O’Brien) .
Now it appears that an update is just around the corner, two respected people have posted screenshots of a 2.3.4 build (the latest) , suggesting LG have released an updated rom to developers. Fingers crossed it is only a matter of days before LG get round to issuing the update to all of us.

frustrated g2x user here…we’ve heard this before…sigh…what a debacle tmo and lg have created.
They should hurry up with releasing the update because I’m really considering rooting my phone very soon if I can’t get the official gingerbread.
Just hope that they will do as they say and give the release in July, hopefully we dont get dissapointed. Its a long while already

lg is full of shit!! slowest company ever!!! 4.0 ice cream sandwich is coming soon.. and im still on FROYO.. isnt frustrating!!!
when is the update will come for optimus2x p990 already said that the update will come july still i didnt got update its frustrating…………
I’m really pissed at LG atm, my phone is having alot of problems here and there daily, sometimes the phone just shuts down, sometimes it fails to enable wifi, sometimes it looses the sim card so I have to re-enter the pin and a couple of other problems. I’m seriously beginning to think about rooting the phone since there’s no official word from LG on when the update is gonna come and I’m almost done waiting.
no need to root or wait for the lazy update guys.i’ve been using my opt 2x for nearly almost two years.and also i’ve had some experience bout this shut off and reboots.and now,i never crawl to find the solutions anymore.i think the reboots continuosly happening because of its regular lock and unlocking system.since i use the ‘flyscreen’ apk,it unexpectedly fixed the problems.my android is still 2.2.but only the old version of Flyscreen will fix it which is v 1.0.0.it’s already 3 or 4 months i don’t have any reboots or freez.the main function of this apk is to serve internet without unlocking your phone.that means it will takes control of the regular unlocking.try it!!
just got the 2.3.4 update.really solve the reboot problem.just realize a
flash of green light on the screen when i try to slide the screen when
this update has been done.hope the upcoming update will solve this
problem.
