Microsoft to give Windows Phone a huge marketing budget

Microsoft to give Windows Phone a huge marketing budget Microsoft have a lot of catching up to do in the mobile space, and when we say “a lot” we mean “A LOT”. Here in the UK there’s only really the HD mini and the HD2 on sale, so we’re looking to see a strong line-up appear this winter. TechCrunch is reporting that half a billion US Dollars could be spent in marketing and developer payments to give the platform a head start.

The figures come from Telecommunications Analyst at Deutsche Bank, Jonathan Goldberg, who states…

“This is make-or-break for them. They need to do whatever it takes to stay in the game. It’s still wide open. They don’t have to take share from Android or Apple, so long as they can attract enough consumers switching from feature phones.”

Billions more are likely to be spent as the months roll by according to insiders within Microsoft.
