Android sales triple in the UK


Android sales triple in the UK 1 in 10 contract handsets sold in the UK now run Android according to stats from GfK Retail and Technology. The overall share of the UK mobile contract market has grown considerably, rising from a mere 3% share in Q1 of this year to a 13.2% share in Q2. The report also states that…

“During this period, while contract market sales grew by less than 1%, sales of Android phones increased by a staggering 350%.”



It seems that the Google Android OS is becoming more and more well known, with Gfk Analyst Megan Badock stating..

“The figures suggest an increasing number of consumers are now asking for Android handsets by name. Operating Systems are no longer simply a by-product but a key selling point in their own right.”
