Shots of the Gigabyte Android handset have been floating around the web for a bit now, albeit as a render. Now mobile-review have got the real thing. It’s the first dip into the Android water for Gigabyte and the specs aren’t exactly going to knock you sideways. There’s a 2 megapixel shooter, 3.5mm audio port, WiFi, GPS, G-Sensor, microSD expansion, 528Mhz CPU and QVGA screen but, when you move out of WiFi range, you drop onto EDGE. Ouch.
We’re guessing that this will be pitched at the lower end of the market as Android 1.6 is also mentioned – an OS which is “like, so yesterday” in Android terms. A date of “late February or early March” has been kicked around, with an announcement probably coming at the Mobile World Congress.
