HTC HD2 / Leo coming to o2 October 12th?

HTC HD2 / Leo coming to o2 October 12th? It seems that the HTC Leo is becoming more popular by the day. Now there’s even more juicy information – the Leo is apparently due to appear on o2 on October 12th. According to engadgetmobile.com

“A trusted tipster with a proven past just gave us the launch day scoop on the hotly anticipated HTC Leo. A Windows Mobile 6.5 handset we recently spied with HD2 branding and a 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen display with 800×480 resolution — a pixel density that should give plenty of room for finger-friendly TouchFlo 3D navigation.

According to said source, the O2 intranet site lists the “HTC HD2″ on its future products list with an October 12th launch date.”

Now, it’ll be interesting to see if o2 actually carry this as the “HTC HD2” and don’t re-brand it as an “XDA”. All HTC (and other) devices only ever appear on o2 under the “o2 XDA” branding, so this would mean a big shift for o2.

Update – We’ve had a few good questions on this, including one from Bob who says, “Why would o2 pick this up when they have the iPhone?” Hmm.. good point. They’re getting the Palm Pre too, so it kinda adds credibility to existing rumours of the iPhone slipping away to other networks very soon. We’ll keep an eye on this.
