Sony Ericsson have just announced the launch dates for their upcoming Xperia X1 handset. The official launch date takes place in 20 days from now on September 30th. It will be available across the UK, Germany and Sweden with Asia, Latin America and other European countries towards the end of the year. We’ve already seen the handset on Vodafone with an availability date of October, so it should be in shops directly after the launch.
Sony Ericsson will be doing a webcast to mark the launch of the handset. Register here and watch the live event at 1PM BST on Monday 15th. Sony Ericsson are doing a Bourne-style advertising campaign to promote the handset with a character called “Johnny X“. He will use the Xperia X1 to find out about his identity whilst demonstrating the capabilities of the phone along the way. You can watch new episodes of the series here every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from September 22nd.
