Sony Ericsson go Windows Mobile – XPERIA X1

By Leigh Geary on February 10, 2008 in Sony Ericsson (Windows Phone)

We’d heard rumours, but now it’s here in the flesh. This is the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1, running Windows Mobile 6 Pro. Yes, you read that right – a Sony Ericsson running Windows Mobile. Just one more time for my own sanity.. it’s a Sony Ericsson with Windows Mobile. Yep, I’ve got it now.

The new XPERIA range will push the mobile web and multimedia. The X1 has a sliding QWERTY keyboard which pops out to give the device a curved and ergonimic feel. There’s also quad-band GSM/EDGE and quad-band 3G/HSDPA and HSUPA. Also in the specs is an auto-focus 3.2 megapixel camera, aGPS, WiFi, microSD, Bluetooth A2DP, FM Radio and a wide 800×600 VGA screen.

It’ll be available in the second half on 2008. Read on for the promotional video featuring about 10 seconds of the (COUGH)iPhone-esque(COUGH) interface and hundreds of paper planes. We’ve also got the full press release. This thing looks absolutely amazing!
