  • T-Mobile Officially Announce Instant Email
    11 Jul 2006
    The T-Mobile updates we mentioned at the start of this month have now been officially announced by the guys at T-Mobile. You can use these updates to get instant-email to all of the T-Mobile MDA devices and benefit from the "remote wipe" facility plus use unlimited browsing on the T-Mobile web'n'walk Professional package for £17 a month.

    "11th July 2006, London: T-Mobile UK today announces the launch of Microsoft Push Email on all its Microsoft Windows 5.0 handset devices, including the MDA Pro, MDA Vario and MDA Compact.

    The new service will provide businesses an even wider range of handset devices from T-Mobile for customers to pick up email on the move, providing them even greater flexibility for mobile working."

    The full press release can be found below with the updates available via our earlier story.

    T-Mobile launches Microsoft Push Email,
    enabling businesses to work with even greater flexibility

    -      Seamless email experience
    -      Available on T-Mobile’s Microsoft Windows 5.0 devices
    -      Enables businesses to have greater control over device security

    11th July 2006, London: T-Mobile UK today announces the launch of Microsoft Push Email on all its Microsoft Windows 5.0 handset devices, including the MDA Pro, MDA Vario and MDA Compact.

    The new service will provide businesses an even wider range of handset devices from T-Mobile for customers to pick up email on the move, providing them even greater flexibility for mobile working.

    Mobile working is becoming an ever increasingly important capability for businesses. By enabling organisations to easily access email on the move, business users can organise their time more efficiently and benefit from an enhanced work/life balance.

    At launch, the Microsoft Push Email service from T-Mobile will be available to customers using Microsoft Exchange 2003 Service Pack 2. Users will be automatically alerted for access to incoming email - there is no need to ask the device to retrieve new emails, they will be delivered directly from the customer’s Exchange Server as and when they arrive.

    The service works over GPRS, 3G and Wi-Fi, and does not require any third-party infrastructure. It will also provide users with a faster experience when sending and receiving messages due to enhanced data compression. It offers users additional Outlook properties, including synchronization of tasks, pictures for contacts lists and the ability to search for contacts by using a company’s Global Address List (GAL) over the air.

    Customers can use T-Mobile’s latest tariff, called web’n’walk professional, which offers users unlimited browsing on the internet*, or any other data tariff to access the Push Email service. Web’n’walk professional costs just £17.00 per month (+VAT) or can be added to existing Flext, Relax or Business 1-Plan contracts for just £8.50 per month (+ VAT).

    In addition, the Microsoft Push Email service will enable businesses to have greater control over device security, including:

    ·       Centrally controlled password protection - so that users have to unlock their device using a password;
    ·       Local data wipe - enables SMEs to decide how many incorrect logon attempts are permitted before data is considered to be at risk;

    ·       Remote wipe - ensures that lost, stolen, or misplaced devices can be reset remotely over the Web removing company-sensitive data.

    The service will also give customers significant Mailbox enhancements. It will provide a new offline address book format that offers significantly improved performance, as well as finer controls for public folders, which include better replication and permissions management, safe removal of servers, and folder deletion logging to increase administrative efficiency.

    Derek Williamson, Head of Business Marketing, T-Mobile UK says, “The ability for people to be able to work when they want is critical in today’s business climate. Email is an essential tool in any business and we are committed to enabling our customers access to their emails on the move.”

    Williamson continues, “Over the last two years we have seen dramatic growth in the number of businesses offering their employees converged data devices such as the MDA Pro, MDA Vario or MDA Compact. T-Mobile’s introduction of the Microsoft Push Email service will offer our customers an even wider range of devices to choose from when looking for an effective, mobile data solution.”
